Jenny Crowley-Smith
"Although much of my work has its starting point in the human form, I am aiming for an immediate sensory response to the lightness and darkness of tone, the mood produced by the use of specific colours and the action of brushed marks and lines. "The starting point of each piece is simply that - a few marks that rarely survive the activity they initiate and the painting develops from its own internal energies as one brush stroke or area of colour calls for the next in an organic process.

"When a painting is going well, it seems to "take over" and has a life of its own which I try to respond to instinctively. Throughout the process, however long it may take, I attampt to retain the spontaneous fresh feel of immediacy. "

The organic structures of the human form are Jenny’s inspiration. Through the mediums of collage and paint she explores the possibilities that present themselves as only she does. Her work, bold demanding and intriguing, places before the viewer a new perspective of form, colour and texture.
