Louise Bassant

"The apple because it is a symbol of passion and partition. The apple
because it is an ideal shape, sensual, generous, allowing endless variations due to
it's imperfections" Hans Hedberg
My work is inspired by discarded apple cores. Pieces that are recognizable and everybody can react to. Varieties of forms have extended this idea: apples have become a metaphor for life.
While some forms reveal the seed, the start of life, others are protected by the old disregarded core, the end of life. Some are more organic and intriguing and are no longer giving the immediate appearance of an apple core. A metamorphosis…
"And from hour to hour, we ripe and ripe,
and from hour to hour, we rot and rot." William Shakespeare
All forms are individually built; and there will never be an exact replica
