After achieving a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art at Loughborough University in 2010, Deborah has continued to develop her painting and producing incredible artworks that are full of life and energy.
The concept of capturing moments in time and images of life around her is a significant element of her recent works. Creating pieces that convey to others not just images, but the opportunity to think about mood and the wider narrative that is going on beyond the images, are important aspects of her work.
The exploration of movement and transcribing that movement onto the painted surface has been her particular interest, looking at the lines and forms created by motion. She is fascinated with the human figure and the line and how to use it to express beauty. With such images she manipulates them to make the painting uniquely individualised, adding elements that allow the viewer’s imagination to bring a new narrative and understanding to the image. For example there is control and elegance in the movement of her dancer paintings and yet at the same time an element of lack of control in the forms created.
